Hunter Ovens, star running back and linebacker for Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, FL), turned in a fantastic senior season. The 6-2, 220-pound Virginia Tech recruit was big part of a defense that forced four shutouts on the year and gave up an average of just under 200 yards per game. On offense, he rushed for 783 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Cardinal Mooney finished 11-1 on the year.

“It felt good being a senior this year,” Ovens said. “It was such a good season. It was good to leave high school like that.”

Ovens believes he improved in several areas from the 2005 season to 2006.
