Coale Helps Episcopal Capture IAC Championship

6-0, 195-pound wide receiver Danny Coale estimates his 2006 stat line to be about 27 catches for around 650 yards with 13 touchdowns. More importantly, he has been a key part of an Episcopal team that has already captured the 2006 IAC regular season championship title.

“As a team, everything has been great,” Coale said of his senior season. “We’re 8-0 with one more game to go. Everyone’s just playing really hard. We haven’t been blowing out teams, although we could have. But our guys want to play hard, which is different from the past.

“Individually, it has been harder to get the ball. I get double-teamed a lot. Sometimes I even get triple-teamed. I just do anything I can to help out the team. Like the game against Bullis, I try to do what I can.”

The Bullis game which Coale is referring to took place last Friday. Episcopal won 47-20, thanks in large part to Coale’s four-touchdown performance. He scored the game’s first touchdown, returning a punt 70 yards for a score. He followed that up with two more scores – on a 50-yard touchdown and a 60-yard punt return, respectively – to give Episcopal a 20-0 lead. He would later add a 26-yard touchdown reception for good measure.
