PreSeason Check-In: LB Quillie Odom

Osbourn Park (Manassas, VA) had a strong season last year, finishing with an 8-2 record, but Quillie Odom and the rest of his teammates are hungry for more. The star linebacker recruit, a Virginia Tech commitment, is looking to help his team make the playoffs this year.

“I can’t wait,” Odom said of the start of his senior season. “I’ve been waiting for this opportunity since the off-season began. We ended on a bad note by not making the playoffs last year, so I’m really looking forward to this season.”

Odom played last season with a broken thumb, an injury that caused him to miss the first two games. Right now, he’s healthy and “I’m feeling great,” Odom said. “I just feel re-energized and I can just get back and get some interceptions this year. Right now, I’m 6-2, 210 pounds. It’s big. And I feel like I’ve kept my speed, which is the biggest thing. I feel like I can take on bigger guys and I can get through the line faster.”

In eight games in 2005, Odom racked up 72 tackles in total. In addition to getting bigger and stronger, he feels he’s improved in other areas as well.
