Quarterback recruit Tyrod Taylor of Hampton High School will announce his college decision this Friday in Hampton, and TechSideline.com has learned the specifics of the time and location of Taylor’s announcement. Taylor will make his declaration at Crabber’s Restaurant in Hampton, and the announcement will be carried live on Hampton Roads NBC-TV affiliate WAVY-TV channel 10.

Taylor, Virginia Tech’s top recruiting target for the class of 2007, has narrowed his list to two schools, Florida and Virginia Tech. For months, reports have circulated that Taylor would make his final choice after VT’s one-day rising seniors football camp on July 8th and before the Elite 11 Quarterbacks Camp in California, which starts on July 24th.

Hampton head coach Mike Smith indicated in newspaper reports following last Friday’s VHSCA All-Star game that Taylor would announce at Crabber’s Restaurant on Friday the 21st, and TSL has learned that the details of that announcement have been finalized.

Taylor and his family will be present at Crabber’s Friday night, and during the 6:00 p.m. WAVY-TV news broadcast, WAVY-TV sports director Bruce Rader will be doing a remote live broadcast from the restaurant. During Rader’s sports section, which starts at approximately 6:20 p.m., Taylor will join Rader and announce his school of choice.

Rader has taped an interview with Taylor that will run Wednesday night, on WAVY-TV’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news broadcasts. The segment will also air in its entirety on Fox 43 Sportswrap Wednesday night at 10:45 p.m., on WVBT-FOX Channel 43 in Hampton Roads. In the interview, Taylor discusses the recruiting process, whether analysts view him as a run-first or pass-first quarterback, what he’s looking for in his college of choice, and the differences between Florida and Virginia Tech.
