2005 Keys to the Game: West Virginia

Undefeated, highly ranked, and feeling pretty good about themselves, the
Hokies return to the scene of the 2003 Morgantown Massacre to face the
Mountaineers of West Virginia. The Hokies and Mountaineers will square off one
last time in a bitter rivalry that has become nastier over the last few years.

In
games like this, �X�s� and �O�s� often take a back seat to emotion,
intensity, focus, and discipline. Inspired by an ACC-sized chip on their
shoulder and a tanked-up Wednesday night mob disguised as the home field crowd,
the Mountaineers outclassed the Hokies in all of those areas two years ago. As
Frank Beamer likes to say, things got �out of whack� in a hurry.

Last year, in Blacksburg, the Hokies returned the favor, knocking the
highly-ranked Mountaineers off their perch. They did it using a familiar formula
that has been highly successful over the years � domination on defense and big
plays on special teams. Both should be big factors again for the Hokies this
week.
