Nolen Primed for Big Year

Hampton (VA) wide receiver Todd Nolen has been relatively quiet this summer on the recruiting scene. The 6-3, 175 pound prospect hasn’t taken unofficial visits or been to any summer camps. What he has been doing is getting ready for his senior year, hoping to help lead Hampton to a state championship.

“We work out as a team, we do weightlifting, and we do 7-on-7 workouts,” Nolen said. His senior year will be only his third as a wide receiver. “I think I’ve gotten stronger, faster, and have become a better route runner. Our team’s looking good. We’re going to be at the top.”

In terms of recruiting, Nolen continues to get mail from the four schools who have offered – Nebraska, Syracuse, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Recently, Maryland and North Carolina have begun to send more letters and information as well.

“Everything’s the same,” Nolen said of his recruitment. “I have gotten a couple of letters recently from UNC, and Maryland is starting to send me more letters. Virginia Tech has picked up the amount of letters also. They send me information about their graduation rates and stuff like that. Virginia still sends me a lot of letters. They send about 10 to 12 per week. They send stuff about their NFL experience and how they could turn me into a great player in their system.”
