Boone’s Versatility, Talent Attracts Offers

One of the top rising senior prospects in the state of Virginia, Greg Boone completed 52 percent of his passes and threw for 1,400 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only three interceptions as a junior last season. He earned second-team All-District honors for his performance.

An imposing 6-4, 250 pound safety, Boone had 40 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and five interceptions as a junior last season, earning first-team All-District, first-team All-Tidewater, and second-team All-Eastern Region honors on defense. The Oscar Smith High School standout helped his team to an excellent 9-1 regular season record in 2003 and an appearance in the Eastern Region playoffs.

Opposing coaches in the Chesapeake area have taken notice of Boone’s talents, and so have Division I-A coaches. Currently, Boone boasts double-digit scholarship offers.

“I have thirteen offers right now,” Boone said. “Connecticut, ECU, and Clemson are the most recent. I also have [offers from] Michigan, Marshall, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Penn State, and West Virginia.”
