Sources at the Westfield High School press conference for the signing ceremony of Sean Glennon and Eddie Royal report that Royal has selected Virginia Tech as his college of choice. He chose the Hokies over Virginia and Marshall.

Royal removed a sweatshirt, revealing a Virginia Tech jersey, and donned a Virginia Tech cap. He then announced his intentions to attend VT, and he and Glennon signed their LOIs for the Hokies.

As a senior, Royal had 41 catches for 875 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. For his outstanding season, he was named Washington Post All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year as well as AP Group 6 Offensive Player of the Year. Fast, athletic, and elusive, Royal is the most explosive prospect in the state this year.

Royal becomes the 19th commitment for Virginia Tech’s 2004 recruiting class.
