Jack Britt (Fayetteville, NC) running back George Bell has committed to Virginia Tech over NC State and North Carolina. On the television show “Countdown to Signing Day,” he announced his intentions to sign with Virginia Tech in February of 2004.

One of the top tailbacks in the country, the 5-11, 225 pound Bell will provide immediate depth to the Hokies backfield in 2004. Jack Britt Head Coach Richard Bailey says his star tailback is one of the most physically gifted players he has ever coached.

“George is the best athlete I’ve ever coached,” said Bailey. “I call him a genetic freak. He has about seven percent body fat, and is built like a bodybuilder. He possesses a great combination of size and speed, and he likes to run over defenders.”

Bell has sat out the entire 2003 season thus far because of a torn ACL and LCL suffered in the fourth game of his junior season. He has not rushed his rehabilitation in the interest of returning to the field only when 100 percent. When at full strength, he is a bruising back with terrific speed and big-play ability.
